The Roads Fund Administration officially handed over various road maintenance tools to clubs in fifteen district councils under the Community Road Maintenance Programme (CRMP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The RFA Board Chairperson, Matthews Chikankheni on Monday 11 September 2023, presided over the official handover ceremony of the tools in Phalombe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his speech, he called upon the club members to work hard in their road maintenance, now that they have the tools to ensure the community roads are always in good condition. \u201cNow that the RFA has fulfilled its promise to procure working tools it is our expectation that clubs will deliver by ensuring that roads are being maintained all the time and he further advised the district councils to monitor works\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his remark, Phalombe District Commissioner, Douglas Moffat thanked the RFA for providing the tools to the clubs. \u201cWe are very thankful for the timely provision of the tools which will assist our club members to maintain the roads which were damaged by cyclone Freddy\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The community road maintenance programme previously known as the Income Generating Public Works Programme is currently being implemented in 20 district councils through the community road maintenance clubs. The RFA finances the programme, through payment of club members\u2019 allowances, provision of tools and administrative cost which is directly financed to councils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RFA has procured the following tools, wheelbarrows, hoes, rakes, picks, bicycles, gumboots at a total cost of K400million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total budget allocation to the district councils for the financial year 2023 to 2024 is at K1.3billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
