{"id":9392,"date":"2026-04-20T19:48:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T19:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rfamw.com\/?p=9392"},"modified":"2026-06-05T07:50:40","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T07:50:40","slug":"bailey-bridge-to-cut-travel-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rfamw.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/20\/bailey-bridge-to-cut-travel-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Bailey Bridge to cut\u00a0Travel Time\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Bailey Bridge to cut\u00a0Travel Time<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lilongwe City Council has&nbsp;allocated&nbsp;funds for the construction of a 1.4km new road from Cherub in Area 47 to Area 49 near Bingu Stadium.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was&nbsp;disclosed&nbsp;by the Lilongwe City Council newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Clement&nbsp;Stambuli&nbsp;during a consultative road financing meeting with the Roads Fund Administration on 20April 2026.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have engaged the Malawi&nbsp;Defence&nbsp;Force to construct the road and the bailey bridge across&nbsp;Lingadzi&nbsp;River\u201d.&nbsp;This is an Inter-Agency&nbsp;transaction between&nbsp;public entities collaboration&nbsp;which will help residents of Area 49, Shire, 25 and Area 47 cut short travel time and decongest the Kaunda Road, said&nbsp;Stambuli.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe&nbsp;anticipate&nbsp;that this project will be executed within the&nbsp;timeframes&nbsp;and at reasonable cost being an inter- agency&nbsp;collaboration within&nbsp;state enterprises.
