International Transit Fee is money charged on foreign registered trucks with a minimum of two axles. International Transit Fee is charged in United States Dollars for every one hundred kilometres or part thereof travelled in Malawi at different rates depending on the origin and axle-type of the truck.

Administration of International Transit Fee
International Transit Fee is collected by the Malawi Revenue Authority on behalf of the RFA. All eligible motorists are required to pay International Transit Fee at the port of entry (or at MRA inland offices in cases of distance extensions) through MRA-designated banks.
All vehicles paying international transit fees are exempt from paying inland toll fees.
International Transit Fee Collections
International Transit Fee is the second largest source of revenue for the Roads Fund, after fuel levy, and it contributes about 5% of the total annual Roads Fund income.
